The calypso folk songs were all written by Chuck Girard and Nappi, in Guayana. In 1974, he was introduced to the steel pan by Chuck, who, apart from being a singer songwriter and calypsonian, was also an accomplished pan musician and arranger. In 1976, Nappi joined the "Chuck Girard Trio" a singing group, along with Laurel Numes. In 1989 in London, Nappi joined Nostalgia and Sterling became his mentor.
